SH&E Hires Aviation Economist and PhD Eric Amel for its New York Office

Leading aviation consultants SH&E have added Eric Amel as a Director in the firm’s New York office. Dr. Amel comes to the firm with over ten years of aviation experience in major passenger and cargo carriers.

Prior to joining SH&E, Dr. Amel was most recently Chief Economist and Director of Revenue Forecasting and Analysis at Delta Air Lines, a position he held for the past three and a half years. In this role he led the groups responsible for forecasting and analyzing passenger revenue across all Delta business units. He also oversaw reporting on economic conditions and issues and developed models to forecast and analyze financial performance of the airline industry.

Dr. Amel worked at Continental Airlines prior to Delta. At Continental he was Chief Economist and Managing Director of Revenue Forecasting, with similar responsibilities for Continental’s view of economic conditions and its forward-looking assessments of revenue generation. At the start of his career Dr. Amel was an Assistant Professor of Finance at Arizona State University College of Business. He left academia to join cargo giant Federal Express as a Technical Advisor in domestic forecasting, prior to his appointment at Continental.

For SH&E, Dr. Amel brings his extensive experience in forecasting, economic and econometric modeling, model development, as well as route planning and revenue management. SH&E is active in all these areas for its aviation clients, and Dr. Amel adds considerable depth and experience to SH&E’s services.

David Treitel, SH&E’s Chairman & CEO, said of the appointment, “SH&E is always looking to increase the talent pool we bring to our clients and to each assignment. Eric Amel is an excellent addition to a core area of the firm’s expertise, and we are delighted to have him on staff in our New York office. Our clients will benefit immediately from this addition.”
