IBAC IS-BAO AUDIT
International Standard For Business Aircraft Operators
SH&E have several IBAC accredited IS-BAO Auditors in their Safety, Security and Operations practice. IS-BAO is a code of best practices developed by the Industry for the benefit of the Industry, it is intended to build upon the excellent safety record already established by business aviation. IS-BAO is a voluntary standard which has already over 100 Operators subscribing to the standards.
IS-BAO Program Background
The Business Aviation Industry has seen a significant increase in demand over the past few years, as a result the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) in conjunction with members of the Business Aviation Industry developed a code of best practices which resulted in the introduction of IS-BAO. IS-BAO incorporates the International Standards and Recommended Practices for the Operation of Aircraft applicable to business aviation prescribed in ICAO Annex 6, Part II for International General Aviation – Aeroplanes.
Program Goal
The fundamental purpose of IS-BAO is to foster standardized, safe and highly professional aircraft operations by raising the safety bar within the Business Aircraft Operator community. The IS-BAO Audit is conducted pursuant to the IBAC Audit Procedures Manual and upon completion of a successful Audit the Operator receives a Certificate of Registration from the IBAC Standards Board confirming they have achieved IS-BAO standard.

By achieving IS-BAO Certification, Business Aircraft Operators will be able to demonstrate to both internal and external clients and Regulators that they have a proven and robust Safety Management System (SMS) in place. It reduces the risk of repeat errors, provides for a “Pride in Achievement” for the whole Company and promotes Global Harmonization.
