SERVICES TO THE MAINTENANCE, REPAIR & OVERHAUL (MRO) INDUSTRY

Airlines, MRO providers, airports, and investors worldwide rely on SH&E's global MRO expertise. Since its founding in 1963, SH&E has always been active in the manufacturing and maintenance sectors of the aviation and aerospace industries. SH&E leverages its combination of deep functional expertise with broad industry knowledge to give its clients the insight or competitive advantage needed today to stay ahead of the competition or to make the most of a critical decision point.

SH&E’s dedicated Maintenance & Engineering Group is staffed by highly skilled former airline maintenance and MRO executives with the experience, expertise, and industry relationships required to deliver accurate and insightful analyses to its clients. Additionally, the firm has extensive experience worldwide in financial feasibility assessments of aviation related infrastructure projects and routinely advise financial institutions and the investment community in developing “bankable” business plans used to finance aviation projects.

SH&E routinely performs Maintenance & Engineering diagnostics for operators and MROs around the world which enables the assessment of best-in-class operations, business processes, IT systems, and cost structures. And, as an active MRO customer, we provide sourcing and hangar/shop visit oversight for our asset management clients, which in turn, affords us current knowledge of global MRO supplierperformance, service standards, pricing structures, facility layout, and invoicing quality.

Team members have hands-on experience in the separation of airline maintenance divisions into either independent MRO firms or stand-alone strategic business units and have developed business plans to support their future growth. As an IOSA-qualified Audit Organization, SH&E is also intimately familiar with applicable safety regulations and processes that govern maintenance activities.

Further support is provided by SH&E’s proprietary Aviation Maintenance Intelligence Database which is used for market research and benchmarking assignments. The database has been developed and maintained through years of aviation maintenance related engagements. Tools provided by SH&E’s propriatary database include:

  • Industry leading fleet and maintenance forecasting model
  • Global MRO Market Forecast
  • Extensive maintenance cost database
  • MRO contracts database
  • Aircraft and engine “Bluebooks”
  • Advanced aircraft, engine & parts residual value modeling
  • Database with more than eight million current parts pricing records
  • Confidential aircraft sale and lease transaction database

Unlike most consulting firms, SH&E actively manages aircraft and purchases MRO services from third party providers. SH&E has been responsible for the management of aircraft and component overhauls, heavy maintenance visits, engine overhauls, aircraft modifications, aircraft recertifications, and bridging maintenance on aircraft ranging from regional turboprops to widebodies. Specifically:

  • Boeing BBJ C-check, modifications package and interior conversion
  • 767-300ER interior reconfiguration and re-certification
  • 767-300ER bridging and C-check, interior reconfiguration, STC issuance and aircraft re-certification
  • JT8D engine overhauls and repairs
  • JT8D and PW2000 engine inventory management, including component overhauls and repairs prior to sale
  • DC-10-30 return off lease heavy maintenance checks
  • Storage induction, maintenance and service reintroduction (F100s, 737-300s/-400s, A319s and A320s)

A core SH&E business is to provide airlines, maintenance organizations, and other aviation-related businesses with fleet, route, and operational strategic planning services.

SH&E assists companies in developing strategies that create and maintain both competitive advantage and shareholder value. The firm's experience and first-hand industry knowledge are put to work in evaluating operator strengths and weaknesses and in maximizing strategic opportunities.

SH&E uses benchmarking, industry forecasting, trend analysis, proprietary models, and other techniques to develop recommendations for optimizing operations and corporate structure. SH&E has performed hundreds of assignments that have involved strategy issues where acquired experience, knowledge, and applied skills are also related to the immediate assignment. Our routine engagements include market analyses, restructurings, resource optimization, fleet and route planning, revenue and pricing, asset financing, aviation asset management, and profit enhancement strategies.
